Artist Statement

I came into college as a graphic designer knowing for some reason, it was the right choice. However, I didn't know why. If someone asked me, “Why graphic design?” I never knew the answer. I did not know how to draw, and told my professors on the first day, because I saw that everyone had at least some knowledge or experience with drawing. Some people were really good, and it would make me more nervous. However, after a few days of my design classes I still knew I wanted to become a graphic designer. I think my main problem was that I couldn't find a deeper meaning to it. I always knew doctors saved lives, and lawyers brought justice, and I started to think about what I can do as a graphic designer. I don't think I have found the answer yet, but I am willing to keep going and finding out on the way. I know it is something I enjoy doing. The one thing I know for sure is that design is one of the only things I look forward to doing and don’t get stressed about, but rather excited to start. I think that is what pulled me into design. I am pulled into design but now I need to find a reason to stay. I know the career with logos and web design is something I am really looking forward to. But I think that deeper meaning I am looking for will complete my answer when someone asks me, “Why graphic design?”
